Serving the Winona community through hands-on involvement at the Winona Family YMCA.
I volunteer at the Winona Family YMCA, giving back to a community organization that
supports people of all ages and backgrounds. The YMCA has always been a place where
the community comes together โ and being part of that mission means a lot to me.
My volunteer work focuses on keeping the facility clean, welcoming, and running
smoothly for every member and guest who walks through the door. Whether it's
sanitizing equipment, stocking towels, or helping with events โ every small task
contributes to a bigger purpose.
One of my most meaningful experiences was helping coordinate Teen Night โ an event
giving local teens a safe, energetic, and fun space to connect with each other.
Watching young people feel welcomed and included reminded me exactly why community
spaces like the YMCA matter so much.
Cleaned and sanitized gym equipment throughout the facility to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for all members and guests.
Folded and restocked towels to keep the facility running smoothly and ensure members always had what they needed.
Assisted with coordinating and running Teen Night โ a community event providing local youth with a safe, fun, and inclusive space to connect and have a great time.
Supported staff and members in maintaining a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere throughout the facility.
Volunteering at the YMCA taught me that leadership isn't always about being in front of a crowd.
Sometimes the most meaningful work happens quietly โ wiping down a machine, folding a towel,
or simply being present for someone who needed to feel welcome.
It also reinforced something I believe deeply: that community is built through small,
consistent acts of showing up. The people at the YMCA โ staff, members, teens at Teen Night โ
reminded me that service isn't a task. It's a relationship.
